Our History

Key Milestones

Following more than a decade of proven success and a strong track record in the tunneling sector coupled with the continued growth in demand for tunneling services in the local market, Hassan Allam Construction established a stand-alone subsidiary company in September 2008 in Jeddah under the name of “SAUDI TUNNELING COMPANY FOR CONTRACTING (STCC)” to run the tunneling business independently.

STCC was a long-standing dream of Eng. Magdy Allam (Founder of STCC, KSA) made possible with Eng. Khalid Hasan (CEO of STCC, KSA) who has extensive hands-on experience in the thrust boring industry and a proven track record of delivering results. The founder and the CEO combine excellent capabilities in tunneling and non-disruptive road-crossing works, microtunneling, open face, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), auger boring techniques with skills in business development and market research, strategy formulation, project optimization, and the ability to develop culturally diverse teams.

Unleashing the Power of Innovation: A Journey of 16 Years

Inception: "Working Together"
2008

  • Saudi Tunneling Company for Contracting (STCC) was founded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in September 2008. Over the past 16 years, STCC has cultivated expertise to meet the increasingly demanding challenges of tunnel works in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    The vision of STCC was realized through the efforts of Eng. Magdy Allam, the company's founder, alongside our leaders who bring extensive experience in business development, market research, strategy formulation, project optimization, and team development to STCC.

Vision Takes Shape
2009

  • While the initial phase of STCC was challenging, the passion and pioneering spirit of the team quickly bore fruit. In April 2009, STCC acquired a state-of-the-art AVN 600XC/700 machine, successfully installing 1.3 km of DN600mm pipes in Yanbu with a team of just 17 employees.

A Brand-New Era Begins:
2011 - 2013

  • With a commitment to continuous growth and meeting market demands, STCC invested in a DN1000 open-face machine in July 2011. This was followed by the acquisition of an AVN1000XC/1200 tunneling machine in October 2012. In July 2013, STCC further advanced its capabilities with the purchase of the AVN1600TB/2000 tunneling machine.

Setting New Horizons:
2014-2015

  • In April 2014, STCC expanded its services by acquiring the HDD JT4020 All Terrain horizontal directional drilling machine from Ditch Witch. In January 2015, the company's capabilities were further enhanced with the addition of the AVN800XC/1000 machine to the fleet.

Building Momentum:
2016 - 2017

  • August 2016 marked a significant milestone for STCC with the addition of the AVN1200TC/1400 tunneling machine. In March 2017, the acquisition of the HDD AT100 All Terrain horizontal directional drilling equipment enabled STCC to tackle even more challenging projects.

Overcoming Challenges:
2019-2022

  • Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, STCC achieved its highest-ever revenue during this period, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.

Opening Up New Paths:
2023

  • In June 2023, STCC has successfully commissioned our largest tunneling machine yet, the AVND3000AB/3500.

  • STCC has established itself as a leader in the industry, earning the respect of key clients in Saudi Arabia, including Saudi Aramco, SWCC, NWC, SEC, Marafiq, Green Riyadh, AMAALA, Diriyah, Modon, and several governmental and semi-governmental bodies. Our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional trenchless services has solidified our reputation, making STCC one of the most skilled providers of trenchless solutions in the local market.

Today and the Future

  • Equipped with a fleet of advanced tunneling machines and a dedicated team, STCC is poised to achieve new milestones underground. With innovation at the forefront, we are entering a new chapter with plans to expand into utility tunneling and traffic tunneling, constructing tunnels for vehicles and metro systems.
